The All Progressives Congress (APC) is fast emerging as a formidable political force in Anambra State ahead of the 2025 governorship election. Once met with scepticism, the APC has undergone a remarkable transformation, attracting prominent politicians and positioning itself as a viable alternative in the state’s political landscape.

Recent developments underscore the party’s growing appeal. In the past few months,
influential Anambra politicians such as Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo have declared their intention to contest the governorship election under the APC banner. Additionally, there is intense speculation that Sir Val Ozigbo, who defected to the APC yesterday, may soon join the race.

Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading governorship aspirant and the key architect of APC’s repositioning in Anambra, is at the heart of this resurgence. According to Chukwuma, the party’s newfound strength results from deliberate efforts to rebuild and revitalise its structure. “Through the good work we have done, a new APC has emerged,” he remarked in a recent interview. “If the party had not been repositioned, you wouldn’t see these prominent individuals expressing interest in joining”.
Over the past 18 to 24 months, Chukwuma and his team have undertaken extensive grassroots restructuring. He financed the establishment of the APC state office in Awka, local government offices in all 21 LGAs, and ward offices across the 326 wards in Anambra. These efforts have significantly enhanced the party’s visibility, credibility, and appeal among the electorate.

The influx of seasoned politicians such as Okonkwo, Ukachukwu, and Onunkwo signals a broader shift in perception—APC is no longer viewed as an outsider but as a viable platform for political aspirations in Anambra. “We are happy to see our brothers and Ndi Anambra identifying with APC. Among all the political parties in the state, they have chosen ours as the best platform”, Chukwuma noted.
This transformation has positioned APC as the “new bride” of Anambra politics, with growing momentum heading into the 2025 governorship election. The party’s revitalised structure and increasing influence suggest it is now a serious contender in the state’s political equation. Undoubtedly, APC’s rising prominence can be attributed to the strategic vision and leadership of Paul Chukwuma.
Sir Paul C. Chukwuma was born on February 27, 1978, in Ihiala, Anambra State, to the late Mr. Titus Chukwuma and Mrs. Florence Chukwuma of Nneyi Village, Umueri, Anambra East LGA. He is happily married to the distinguished Mrs. Fidelia Chukwuma, and they are blessed with six children.
An academic powerhouse, Chukwuma obtained First-Class honours in both Philosophy and Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Baze University, Abuja, respectively. He earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Intellectual Property & Information Technology Law with Distinction from the prestigious University of Derby, UK. He is also an alumnus of the acclaimed Lagos Business School.

Beyond politics, Chukwuma is a visionary entrepreneur and a dedicated advocate for education and human capital development. He is the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Bujumbura, Burundi, and has significantly invested in education and business mentorship. He founded multiple successful companies, including ValuePlus Solutions, Montage Group, Fides Et Ratio, and Humble Rocks. Through these ventures, he has nurtured young entrepreneurs and supported businesses across Nigeria.

As Anambra approaches a pivotal election in 2025, Paul Chukwuma stands out not just as a governorship aspirant but as the driving force behind APC’s rise in the state. His leadership, strategic investments and commitment to grassroots mobilisation have reshaped the party’s prospects, making it a force to reckon with in the political landscape.
