Obiano, Rise Global Health Initiative Intervene in abandoned Orumba hospital

The abandoned General Hospital, Orumba situated in Ajali community, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State by successive administrations in the state, hope seems to be at the horizon as the state government in partnership with a United States based medical group, Rise Global Health Initiative have come to the rescue .
The intervention to save the hospital from further decay emanated from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached between the Anambra State Government and the US based Medical experts under what is called, “Anambra Business Coalition”, (ABC)
The aim is to use three General Hospitals in the three Senatorial Zones for pilot scheme. The hospitals are, General Hospital Orumba, General Hospital Ossomalla and Rise Clinic, Adazi-Ani, each representing the senatorial zones of the state.
At Orumba General Hospital on Tuesday, the Global Rise Health Initiative team repeated its visit to the hospital to flag-off the perimeter work on the fencing of the expensive health facility.
During the commissioning, the Vice-President, Global Rise Health Initiative, Dr. Hien Tran said that the mission of her team from the United States was to transform the health care delivery of the state in partnership with the Anambra State Government as a major stakeholder.
Dr. Tran stated that her team would concentrate on the renovation of the hospital and improve on some facilities already in place and even deploy more medical equipment that are affordable and of quality which may not be phased out because of its form of technology in the nearest future, providing adequate training for medical staff, provision of 24hour power generation through alternative source and functional clean running water which is foremost in health care delivery.
She stated that the flag-off of the fencing which is already in progress was to guarantee the security of the staff of the hospital, patients and the equipment to be deployed for effective diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
The medical expert noted that her team would remain committed to Governor Willie Obiano for expressing confidence with Global Rise Health Initiative by performing her own role in the agreement under “Anambra Business Coalition”.
At the water bore-hole site which was still in progress at the time of filing this report, the Project Manager, Anambra Business Coalition, Mr. Johnny Ndive expressed confidence with the contractor and assured that the project would be completed before this weekend.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike who was represented by the state Director, Medical Services, Dr. Nathan Ojekwu observed that the state government under Governor Willie Obiano was committed in improving the healthcare of the people which he had so far demonstrated through the state government partnership with Global Rise Health Initiative, a reputable US based healthcare group and expressed delight that the locals would take advantage of the medical intervention.
He maintained that as a priority under the Anambra Business Coalition, Orumba General Hospital has been chosen to carter for cancer patients including other ailments and urged the US experts not to relent in their effort in bringing healthcare services affordable and closer to the people.
The Chief Medical Officer of the hospital, Dr. S. O. Eze represented by the hospital’s Chief Pharmacist, Charles Ugbor explained that the intervention to save the hospital from total collapse was borne out of the love the present government in the state has for rural dwellers, including the humanitarian disposition of Rise Global Health Initiative and charged the natives of Ajalli to see the new project as their own by patronizing the medical facilities and also seek to the security of the equipment that would be provided in the hospital.
A member of the Medical team from the United States and stakeholder, Rise Clinic, Adazi-Ani, Dr. Emeka Okeke pleaded with the affluent in the society to invest in humanitarian work such as project of saving lives, adding that Rise Global Initiative was already committed in discharging wonderful project in Anambra State.
The highpoint was inspection of some ongoing projects initiated by the state government in partnership with the US based medical group.
