The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has fixed the cost of its nomination forms for the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State, with chairmanship aspirants required to pay ₦6 million, while councillorship aspirants will pay ₦600,000.

The party disclosed this in Awka while unveiling its provisional timetable for the conduct of its local government primary elections.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the party said the timetable was approved in line with the provisions of its constitution and the election calendar released by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

According to the statement, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will commence on January 27 and end on February 6 at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat.

It stated that the screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants would take place between February 7 and February 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards of the state.

“Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be considered on February 13, while ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates are scheduled for February 14,” the statement said.

APGA further announced that its chairmanship primary election would hold on February 15 in Awka, while appeals arising from the primaries would be handled on February 16, also in the state capital.

The party clarified that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities would enjoy a 50 per cent reduction in the cost of the nomination forms, as part of efforts to promote inclusiveness in the political process.

It, however, stressed that all payments for the forms are non-refundable and noted that the timetable may be subject to adjustment if the need arises.

APGA urged all prospective candidates to strictly adhere to the party’s guidelines and comply with the electoral regulations governing the primaries, warning that failure to do so could lead to disqualification.

The Anambra State local government elections are expected to hold on August 29, 2026, with political activities gradually gaining momentum across the state.
