Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has introduced a toll-free phone number, 5111, for citizens to report crime emergencies.
This initiative is part of the state’s latest security effort, ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ declared by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to tackle crime and ensure peace in the state
Mefor emphasized that “there is no hiding place for criminals in Anambra State.”
He urged citizens to report any suspicious activities, stating, “If you see something, say something, because the person free today may be a victim tomorrow.”
The commissioner made these remarks during the End of Year Get Together/Award Winning Day held by the Ministry of Information Staff at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
He commended information officers for their hard work and encouraged them to continue sensitizing the public about the state’s security initiatives.
Mefor announced the establishment of two committees to promote the Soludo-led administration’s achievements in various sectors.
The committees would be based at the MOI headquarters and ABS for weekly live radio/TV interactive programmes.
The event honoured top-performing information officers, with Juliana Nwachukwu, Chizoba Okeke, and Ugwunze Uzochukwu taking the top three spots. Other awardees included Michael Ezenwata, Obiageli Nwankwo, Ifeyinwa Ogwo, and Uche Kalu.
