Udo Ga-Achi: Anambra Tenants, Hotel Lodgers Must Register with PGs, Provide Identity Cards
Security
Anambra State has introduced new security measures requiring tenants and hotel lodgers to be known to the Presidents General (PGs) and provide identification, including voter’s cards.
This move aims to enhance security and weed out criminals in the state.
Under the new directives, hotel guests must provide a valid government-issued ID, such as a National Identity Card, International Passport, or Voter’s Card, to the hotel management.
Hotel owners are then required to photocopy these documents and submit them to the President General of the community, who will forward them to the local government chairman and the State government.
Similarly, landlords and landladies must obtain a form from their President General for each tenant occupying their houses or shops.
Tenants must fill out these forms using a valid government-issued ID. Failure to comply with these directives will result in the forfeiture of property and potential prosecution.
While applauding Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s renewed efforts to enhance security in the state, some residents have cautioned against arbitrary measures.
They emphasized that the hospitality industry, built on sacred ethics like confidentiality, must not be compromised by allowing a select few, driven by desperation and selfish interests, to dictate state rules.
