Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Anambra governorship election billed for November 8, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has commenced a tour of the 21 local government areas of the state.

Ukachukwu commenced the tour on Tuesday with Ayamelum LGA, where he visited Omor and Anaku communities, insisting there are benefits of voting for the party at the centre, APC. He said Anambra has been unable to attract several grants that are accruing to other states because it is not an APC state.

Speaking to APC members in Omor and Anaku, Ayamelum LGA, Ukachukwu said farmers in states controlled by APC have been receiving incentives, including agriculture grants and fertilizers, but Anambra has not had the privilege because it is not connected to the centre.

“We are here to confer with you and to tell you we are ready for the contest. We want to form a formidable team of those who will work with us. We don’t want people who will be hanging around Awka, but when you come to their area, they do not have followers.

“You must be sure you follow people who have integrity, people who will make promises and abide by them. There is a lot to be gotten from the federal government.

“There are loans that people in states connected to the centre are enjoying and that is where we want to empower people from. Let us join APC, let us connect Anambra to the centre and you will be shocked the level of prosperity that you will witness.

“We want a state where we will look forward to finances from state and from federal government, there is a lot to be done and just one source of income can not guarantee that we can meet the things we have at hand to do for our people.”

Earlier, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Senator Uche Ekwunife and the state chairman of the party, Mr Basil Ejidike assured that Anambra is now ready for an APC governor, insisting that Ukachukwu is the man to lead the party to the centre.

Ejidike added that that: “Our state Anambra has been in the dark for too long. In Abuja, APC governors meet to fine-tune strategies about how to benefit from the federal government, while PDP governors also meet, but our state will be no where to be found because we are not in the equation. We will not continue like this,” he said.
