In a decisive effort to strengthen rural healthcare delivery, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh, has completed the renovation of the Nkolofia Health Centre in Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

For years, the health facility had fallen into disrepair, leaving residents—particularly women and children—struggling to access quality medical care. Dilapidated buildings, broken beds, and obsolete equipment had rendered the centre nearly non-functional.

Senator Umeh’s intervention, described by locals as timely and transformative, has breathed new life into the facility.

The renovation includes the rehabilitation of structures, repainting, roofing, and restoration of essential amenities, thereby providing a safer and more conducive environment for healthcare workers and patients alike.

Speaking on the development, Senator Umeh said the gesture was part of his commitment to improving public welfare and expanding access to primary healthcare across the senatorial district.

He noted that the next phase of the project would involve equipping the centre with modern medical tools and facilities to meet current healthcare standards.

“Access to quality healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege,” Umeh said, adding, “This project is one among many aimed at improving the living conditions of our people, particularly at the grassroots.”

Residents of Awka-Etiti have expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing the project as a “turning point” for the community.

Mrs. Ngozi Okeke, a mother of three, said the refurbished facility would ease the burden of traveling long distances in search of medical attention.

“Before now, this centre was almost abandoned. But with this renovation, we can now bring our children here for treatment without fear,” she said.

The Nkolofia Health Centre renovation adds to over 80 constituency projects credited to Senator Umeh across Anambra Central, spanning water supply schemes, school rehabilitations, rural roads, and youth empowerment initiatives.

Observers say Umeh’s approach to representation underscores a model of people-centered governance that prioritizes tangible impact over political rhetoric.

With the health centre now revived and set for further upgrade, Awka-Etiti residents look forward to a new era of improved community healthcare and enhanced quality of life.
