Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, has been conferred with the prestigious Grand Patron Award by the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Port-Harcourt Diocesan Council at their 40th Anniversary Celebration.
The award recognizes Senator Umeh’s outstanding performance in the Senate, tireless promotion of good governance, and unwavering support for the growth of the Catholic faith.
Announcing the development, Auxiliary Bishop Patrick Eluke praised Senator Umeh for his exemplary Christian life, commitment to his Catholic faith, and strong advocacy for justice, noting that his good deeds and dedication had earned him admiration from far and wide.
In his acceptance speech, Senator Umeh commended CYON members for their tenacious participation in the growth of the church and thanked them for finding him worthy of the honour despite not being a member of the diocese.
He emphasized the oneness of the church and stressed the need for active youth engagement in church activities, highlighting the importance of morals and teachings in shaping society.
As Senator Umeh congratulated CYON members on their 40th anniversary, he urged them to continue their devotion to the church and expressed optimism that the enthusiastic youths would become future leaders.
He also commended the national executives of CYON and the leadership of Port Harcourt Diocesan Council for their remarkable commitment to serving the church and youth.
The event featured insightful speeches, special performances by cultural troupes, and a marching parade by various deaneries of the diocese.
Senator Umeh was accompanied by Engr. Azubuike Okeke and Chief Festus OshabaOnuh (represented by Mr. Kingsley Nwachinemerem).
