Umueri PG Hails APGA Government For Localising Democracy Dividends In Communities

Anambra-born philanthropist and Ambassador of Peace of the United Nations, Amb. Chief Dr. John Chukwudi Metchie has hailed the government of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for localising democracy dividends in Anambra communities.
The Peace Ambassador who is popularly called Johnny Metchie, said since the advent of APGA government in Anambra State, communities now have infrastructures and social amenities necessary to improve the living conditions of the citizenry especially those in the hinterlands.
Metchie who is equally the President-General of Umueri General Assembly in Anambra-East council area, recalled that Peter Obi’s administration was the forerunner of APGA government in the state and that through his Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS) , Peter Obi was able to develop all sectors of the state economy simultaneously as evident in the revamping of the education sector, health and other sectors coupled with connecting communities with roads as well as building twin magnificent secretariat complex for Anambra workers, to mention a few.
Metchie said APGA government took Anambra State to another level of development under the Willie Obiano administration. He said it was under Obiano’s administration that Awka the state capital got three flyover bridges. He said that the flyovers have helped tremendously to decongest traffic in the state capital coupled with aesthetics the bridges provided in the area even as he added that the flyover bridges are now monuments posterity will remember Obiano for.
Again Metchie noted that APGA government proved its mettle in the provision of good governance and localisation of democracy dividends in communities when the Willie Obiano administration built the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport cited at Umueri and currently generating IGR for the state and the federal government.
The International Convention Center in Awka, according to him, is another legacy project of the APGA government under Chief Willie Obiano. He said that the ICC is currently hosting both local, national and international events and equally generating revenue for Anambra state.
He said Umueri and other communities in Anambra benefitted immensely from the 20 Million Naira Community-Choose-Your-Project Scheme of the Obiano administration. That through the rural development scheme, communities got infrastructures and social amenities that improved their living standards.
Metchie maintained that APGA government under Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has gone a step further to prove its mettle in the delivery of good governance and localisation of democracy dividends in communities.
Metchie who noted that Soludo met a chaotic atmosphere upon inception of office, said he faced insecurity head-on and is frontally tackling the menace such that Anambra citizens are beginning to enjoy a tranquil atmosphere.
That apart from tackling insecurity, the governor’s disruptive and transformative change mantra is radiating all around the state, stressing that in just one year in office, the governor has connected communities with over 200 kilometers of roads and still constructing more roads.
He said the advent of Prof. Soludo saw the recruitment of 5000 teachers to rejig the education sector and employment of over 300 human resource for health and made hospitals functional, affordable and accessible, adding that Umueri General Hospital is amongst the hospitals renovated and revitalized for comprehensive healthcare delivery.
Aside road constructions, the United Nations Peace Ambassador noted that Governor Soludo has commenced the construction of Ekwulobia Flyover Bridge with a view to decongesting traffic in the ever busy commercial city while praising the governor’s efforts in urban regeneration through tree planting and regenerative agriculture.
He therefore solicited for support for the APGA government, saying that the incumbent APGA led state government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has the template for a liveable and prosperous new state with plenty of opportunities for the citizenry.
