In recent weeks, speculation has swirled about Nnamdi Azikiwe University students being excluded from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) benefits.
However, the university has moved swiftly to debunk these rumours.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor (Information & Public Relations), clarified the university’s involvement with NELFUND.
He said,”We are pleased to confirm that a total of 556 students applied for NELFUND, with 304 students approved for funding as of August 16, 2024,” Dr. Ojukwu said.
“The Students Affairs Unit is currently verifying the list to confirm the applicants as bona fide students before disbursement by NELFUND.”
This clarification puts to rest rumours that Nnamdi Azikiwe University students have been excluded from the NELFUND program.
The university’s administration assures students and the general public that it is committed to ensuring that all eligible students receive the necessary support to pursue their academic goals.
The NELFUND programme aims to provide financial assistance to students in need, promoting access to higher education and reducing financial barriers.
The university’s participation in the programme demonstrates its dedication to student welfare and success.
