The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has expressed strong confidence that it will win the November 8 Governorship Election in Anambra State.
Speaking during an exclusive forum with The RAZOR Newspaper management team at his Umunnachi residence in Dunukofia Local Government Area on Monday, the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, described the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, as “a weak and easy-to-defeat candidate.”
Okagbue did not mince words, insisting that Soludo is the worst governor the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has produced in its 19 years of leadership in the state.
He accused the governor of abysmal performance, citing worsening insecurity, falling education standards, poor treatment of state workers, and the recruitment of cheap labour as evidence of failure.
According to him, under Soludo, Anambra’s educational ranking has disgracefully dropped from first position in the country to 33rd.
He also faulted the governor’s road projects, alleging that the newly constructed roads were already failing. “This is terrible and unheard of,” he declared.
Okagbue, son of oil magnate Chief Chike Okagbue, explained that he teamed up with YPP Governorship candidate, Paul Chukwuma, because of his bold vision and clear ideas, stressing that the YPP ticket represents the only hope to rescue Anambra from its present doldrums.
Confident and unapologetic, he maintained that Soludo’s time in office was running out.
“The people of Anambra deserve better, and on November 8, YPP will deliver that change,” he vowed.
