The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the November 8 election, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to look beyond party affiliations and adopt viable policy ideas from opposition manifestos to strengthen governance and accelerate development in the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, Nwosu said governance in a functional democracy does not end with electoral victory but begins with the responsibility to deploy the best ideas available for the benefit of the people, regardless of their political origin.

According to him, campaign periods often produce well-researched manifestos that respond to real societal challenges, adding that it would be counterproductive for any government to discard innovative ideas simply because they emanated from opposition platforms.

Nwosu noted that across the world, successful administrations have demonstrated that borrowing good ideas from rivals is a mark of maturity and statesmanship, not weakness.

He said his own manifesto during the Anambra governorship race stood out for its strong emphasis on e-governance as a foundation for modern public administration, stressing that technology remains critical to improving efficiency, transparency, security and economic growth in the state.

The ADC candidate explained that e-governance includes the use of technology to prevent and combat crime through surveillance systems, data integration and intelligent security platforms, as well as the promotion of e-commerce to support businesses and expand market access.

He also highlighted the importance of e-tax systems to enhance revenue collection and eliminate leakages, and e-filing platforms to simplify government processes, reduce bureaucratic delays and curb corruption.

“At a time when subnational governments are competing for investment, talent and public trust, the benefits of e-governance are too important to ignore,” Nwosu said, adding that such policies align with global best practices and the aspirations of a youthful, digitally aware population.

He described Governor Soludo as a reform-minded leader with strong intellectual credentials, noting that studying opposition manifestos should be viewed as a pragmatic step towards results-oriented governance rather than a political concession.

Nwosu maintained that history would judge administrations not by the exclusivity of their ideas but by the outcomes they deliver, insisting that Anambra State would be better served when sound policies are embraced, refined and implemented irrespective of their source.
“Governance is about service delivery, not partisan pride,” he added.
