There was widespread jubilation on major streets in Anambra State, Wednesday evening, particularly among the youth and women, as news broke that Paul Chukwuma, a prominent figure in the state, had picked up the governorship form for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
Chukwuma, a frontline governorship aspirant who had been vying for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, resigned his quest after alleging irregularities in the party’s primary election process.
Despite his decision to leave APC, Chukwuma reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his renewed hope agenda, expressing his commitment to the progress of Anambra State.
The news of Chukwuma’s decision of joining YPP and contest for the governorship sparked celebrations across the state, with many people hailing his philanthropic efforts and human face to issues.
Chukwuma’s contributions to the growth of APC in Anambra State were significant, as he played a key role in procuring the state secretariat and offices in the 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
“Paul Chukwuma’s decision to join YPP is a game-changer for our state.
He’s a true leader who has always put the people first,” said Ifeanyi Nwosu, a resident.
