The Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, and his running mate, Uzu Okagbue, have intensified their outreach efforts ahead of the November 8 governorship election, engaging stakeholders across political divides in a bid to consolidate grassroots support.
Running on the campaign slogan “Anambra Deserves Better” and the hopeful message that “Joy is Coming,” the YPP team has positioned itself as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which has dominated Anambra’s political landscape for over two decades.
As part of the party’s outreach, the YPP Deputy Governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, recently held a strategic meeting with former members of the Anambra State Executive Council who served under the administration of former governor Mr. Peter Obi from 2006 to 2014.
The meeting took place in Awka-Etiti, at the residence of Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike, a prominent political figure and former Commissioner for Information.
Speaking during the engagement, Okagbue emphasized the critical role of effective leadership teams in achieving good governance.
He urged the former state officials to actively contribute to reshaping Anambra’s political direction, highlighting their wealth of experience and institutional memory.
Describing the meeting as “impactful,” Okagbue noted that it was marked by “deep thought, clarity of vision, and a shared commitment to Anambra’s progress.”
Notable attendees at the meeting included Prof. Stella Okunna, former Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Information; Architect Callistus Ilozumba, former Commissioner for Works; Barr. Chukwuebuka Okoli-Akirika; Dr. Ego Uzoezie, and others.
The YPP candidate fielded questions from the group and received commendations for the clarity of his plans and vision for the state.
Chief Uzodike, in his remarks, described the YPP ticket as a formidable team with the potential to deliver meaningful change in Anambra.
He cautioned that underestimating their chances in the upcoming election would be a grave political miscalculation.
In a similar vein, the YPP team also visited Nze Chimezie Ikebuaso, a respected community leader in Ihiala Local Government Area.
Impressed by the party’s leadership promise, Nze Ikebuaso pledged his full support for the YPP and committed to mobilizing voters in Ihiala for the party’s success at the polls.
As the campaign intensifies, the YPP continues to gain traction across the state, with growing endorsements from influential figures and communities.
