~ Says we’re very ethical in practice
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) has replied to claims by a man that doctors in the Institution are playing with people’s lives.
The hospital said the video was not only false but also mischievous as it was targeted to mock the reputation they had built overtime as one of the best Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria.

Maker of the said video was obviously on a desperate mission to discredit our revered institution because he is aware we have SERVICOM in the hospital where genuine complaints are channelled.
The advent of social media has made it easy for people to scandalize an institution or individuals when the other side of the story is not known or heard.
This particular video by Mr. Uche Ileabuchi has shown how people will be too quick to discredit the efforts of the institution that has been saving lives instead of using the internal mechanism to lay proper complaints.
To set the record straight, his wife had a cold case and an elective operation booking which was cancelled because the Consultant Surgeon in charge of the patient attended an all-day COOUTH workshop on Thursday 7th March, 2024 as the only nominee of COOUTH Surgery department organised by the Research Management Office.
There is usually a surgery list that contains all the people that should be operated in a day. Some of the cases may come up later in the day , others may even be shifted to another day.
This was courteously explained to him by a junior doctor in the team & the operation duly re-scheduled for the subsequent week.
He hastily shot and uploaded his complaint video at 11:21am. Indeed the wife successfully had her surgery same day and was discharged the following day.
We are using this opportunity to intimate the general public on the truth of the matter.
It is on record that COOUTH, is one of the few teaching hospitals that still maintain their work force in spite of the massive migration of health workers to western countries.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital has won many laurels because of dedication and professionalism of our Staff. Thanks to our amiable Chief Medical Director who has been doing everything possible to make our Institution the best even in the face of Economic Crisis.
We appreciate those who showed concern when the disturbing video was being circulated online.
