The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2023 General Election, Prof. Peter Umeadi, has said that the 2025 Anambra State Governorship election is an open race that all the aspirants must work hard to win instead of expecting miracle to happen in the favour.

Prof. Umeadi who was a former Chief Judge of Anambra State stated this when the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, visited him in his village, Agukwu Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Meanwhile, Senator Ubah, said that the recent meeting of the APGA Presidential candidate in the 2023 General Election, Prof. Umeadi, with former President Ibrahim Babangida and his counterpart, Abdulsalami Abubakar, in Minna, Niger State to discuss issue concerning Nigeria and Anambra State, is an indication that he Umadi is among those whose opinion and activities can shape the country for better

Prof Umeadi, while responding to the speeches of Senator Ubah, National President of Ikemba Front, Hon. Arinze Awaogu and Zonal Publicity Secretary of APC, Chief Dozie Ikedife, that what will be the outcome of the 2025 governorship election cannot be determined now because of the way things are going in the state.

According to him, “I contested the Presidential election under the platform of APGA with Social progress as my vision and mission, I represented APGA well during the presidential debate in Abuja.
APGA is strong in Anambra State because after Dr Chris Ngige, no other party has ruled the state except APGA.

“2025 governorship election in the Anambra State, I know APGA will contest, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will contest, Labour Party, LP, will contest, All Progressives Congress, APC, and other parties will contest, the way things are going in the state the outcome or result of the election has not been determined, everybody contesting must work hard to win.

“For an APC aspirant to come to visit the APGA Presidential Candidate, me Prof. Peter Umeadi, is a remarkable thing that has happened in the state, such a visit does not happen always, it is a remarkable thing that has happened today and I appreciate it. Nri community and their guiding spirit will help you to succeed.”

Earlier in his speech, Senator Ubah, who led the APC stalwarts and members of the Ikemba Front, a support group for his governorship bid to Prof. Umeadi Agukwu Nri Home on the courtesy visit said that he started such visit with Prof. Umeadi because he is convinced he has social progress and Anambra State in mind for good.

“I know is not easy to remove a party that has stayed for 18 years in power in the state, but we will do that and that is why we are going to people who understands where Nigeria is going and retired Justice Peter Umeadi is one of them, his recent meeting with former President’s Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, in Minna, Niger State to discuss issue concerning Nigeria and Anambra State, is an indication that Prof. Umadi is among those whose opinion and activities can shape the country for better.

“He is the presidential candidate of APGA and has not been changed, he is the National leader of APGA, the symbol of APGA in Nigeria, he has not been change and he will still remain the presidential candidate and national leader of APGA, until he is changed. We came here today to beg for his support for my governorship race..

“For us to start from the APGA Presidential candidate, only people with spiritual eyes will understand our visit today. Late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, showed us the road to national party, Senator Hope Uzodinma took Imo State to APC, the National party, Chief Dave Umahi, took Ebonyi State to APC, we must take Anambra State to APC.

“My Lord, we came to seek your support and to remind you that the judgement you gave some years ago about L.G.A election in Anambra State, has not been obeyed and that the only part way to social progress is to conduct the L.G.A election in the state. Anybody who campaigned and beg the people for vote with a promise to conduct L.G.A election and after winning, did not conduct the election is not a man of honour.

“Whatever we do in the state without conduct of LGA election, will not move the state forward. For 15 years L.G.A election has not been conducted in the state, that must change.

“We are also not happy that 60 percent of our traders in the state have moved to Asaba, Delta State, because of harassment and extortion by multiple tax force men with different uniforms, what we have in Anambra State and Onitsha in particular is task-forces, some use mortar to hit people, the state is not livable because of insecurity, security of lives and property is not valued now in the state.”
