2027: Don’t Be Intimidated, We Control Federal Govt , We Will Sweep Anambra Votes for APC — Ekwunife

Senator Uche Ekwunife has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State not to be intimidated ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party will secure victory across the state.

Ekwunife, who spoke at the Anambra Central Senatorial District stakeholders’ meeting in Awka on Friday, said the APC had the capacity to win the elections, citing its control of the Federal Government and what she described as the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“Nobody should be intimidated in this election in Anambra State. We are going for victory. Let us go out to win,” she said.

The former federal lawmaker charged party leaders and members across the wards to return to their respective constituencies, reconcile aggrieved members and rebuild the party as a united political family.

She said internal division could undermine the APC’s electoral prospects, stressing the need for members to work together from the ward level upward to achieve victory.

“If you discover that there is division in your ward, report it because it will affect you and your ward. We have one party, and we must work from bottom to top and top to bottom. Our party campaign organisation, we are all one. We must work together. All we need is progress,” Ekwunife said.

She said the APC would adopt an aggressive grassroots campaign strategy, taking its message to the streets, markets, homes, towns and wards while engaging voters directly.

“We are in this race to go house to house, Rep, Senate, door to door, market to market, town to town, ward to ward, man to man, woman to woman and youth to youth to win the election,” she said.

Ekwunife said the party’s objective was to win all elective positions in the state, including the National Assembly seats, rather than concentrating on selected contests.

“Our slogan is top to bottom and bottom to top, and we are running for all positions and we will win all positions. We are not singling anybody out.

“We are not going for this election to vote for this party and vote for another party. It will be APC all through,” she said.

The senator urged party members to take ownership of the APC at the grassroots and explain its programmes, policies and achievements to voters, rather than relying solely on rallies and political structures.

She said the party’s position as the ruling party, coupled with its grassroots structures and empowerment programmes, gave it a strong platform to compete in the election.

“We have the capacity to win this election, and we must accept that first. We will not sit back and allow other parties to intimidate us in this election,” she said.

Ekwunife, who previously served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, also referred to her legislative experience, saying her record in public office had given her a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people of Anambra State.

She, however, warned against internal sabotage, saying members who were unwilling to support the APC should not undermine the party’s campaign.

“Anyone that does not want the APC should leave us, and please report anyone that is not working for us to the party leadership because we cannot tolerate that anymore.

“We cannot go with internal enemies in this election. If you are not ready to make us win, we will not allow you to make us lose. It is not possible at all,” she said.

Ekwunife announced plans to constitute ward campaign councils to coordinate mobilisation and communication across the senatorial district.

“We are going to constitute a ward campaign council so that we will work as one family, from the wards to the senatorial zone,” she said.

Also speaking, the APC Zonal Chairman in Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Augustine Muomaife, challenged members who doubted the party’s chances of winning the 2027 elections to state their concerns openly.

Muomaife described the meeting as important to the party’s preparations for the elections and the campaign for Ekwunife’s candidacy for the Anambra Central Senatorial District.

He urged ward leaders and party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and resolve internal disagreements ahead of the polls.

“We should go back to our wards and mobilise our people to vote for Uche Ekwunife and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates. Election is local at the ward level. Election is won and lost at the local levels,” he said.

He called on stakeholders to work collectively to strengthen the party’s structures and improve its chances of victory in the 2027 elections.
