As the Nigerian Nation marks her 66th Independence Anniversary amid despair occasioned by hardship, the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra Central, Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, has urged Nigerians to stand firm and not lose hope, noting that the country’s ship could still be steadied.
Nwankwo, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, who stated this in his Independence Anniversary message, said though many Nigerians were being weighed down by the current harsh realities of the day, all hope was not lost as long as the country still had good people aspiring to serve them ahead of next year’s general elections.
“Yes, the times are hard. Nigerians have gone through a lot, but they should not give up because the hour before dawn is darkest.
“I’m well aware of how difficult things have been as a man who mixes well with people. Our people have shown commendable resilience over the years and I urge them to hold on a little longer as there’s hope on the horizon,” Nwankwo stated.
The Founder of Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo Foundation, said part of his major mission to the Senate was to join other progressive minded legislators to enact populist legislations that would lessen the yoke of Nigerians.
“I’ve been in the National Assembly before. I won’t be returning there as a novice but as one already schooled in the art of legislation.
“I’ll team up with other progressive minded legislators to make laws that will positively touch the lives of our long suffering people. They deserve nothing less,” he said.
Regretting that at 66, the country was yet to attain her potentials, Nwankwo said it was time the narrative changed, especially with younger people coming on board with fresher ideas and more energy.
He wished his constituents and other Nigerians a happy Independence anniversary.
