The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has been commended for restoring activities and life to the Anambra West Council Secretariat once again after years of desertion, abandonment and total inactivity.
A visibly elated party/community leader noted that before now the Local Government secretariat was deserted by the staff and overgrown with weeds; and taken over by reptiles and rodents. But that with the intervention of the Governor the Secretariat has come alive again, to give citizens and indigenes of Anambra West LGA a sense of belonging.
Chief Okonkwo was full of kind words for the Governor so “for eventually providing clean drinking water to Umuoba Aboegbu-Anam community in Anambra West council area of the State…”
He expressed delight for the Governor’s gesture in providing them the newly commissioned water borehole in the Community.
This, he noted, was coming after decades of nonavailability of clean hygienic drinking water for their domestic needs and other uses.
He said the borehole will immensely help his people as they had before now perennially been submerged by flood. Such that they were cooking with and drinking all manner of water from unhygienic places and sources. The unwholesome situation made them susceptible to multiple water-borne diseases, including diarrhea, cholera and worm infestation.
Okonkwo also gave kudos to the Anambra West Council chairman, Hon Felix Okechi for attracting the lifesaving project along with others. He described the council boss as “very focussed, who actually has been learning closely from Gov Soludo’s giant developmental strides. Keep it up…”, he added
The community cum party leader, Chief Okonkwo pointed out other ongoing lifesaving programs of the Governor in the area, including the Mmiata Anam-Nzam Road Project, upgrading of some Primary Healthcare centres, the approval for electrification of more communities in the area, etc. Other massive projects of the governor, Chief Okonkwo highlighted include the employment of five thousand teachers, employment of healthcare personnel, the systematic tackling of insecurity in the state, as well as the mass ongoing construction of community roads all over the state.
He assured the governor and the APGA family of the unflinching support and backing of people of the Council area as well as the entire Anambra North Senatorial zone for his administration and development programs.
