UNIZIK Releases New Hostel Accommodation Fees, Registration Timeline For 2026/2027 Session

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has announced new accommodation fees and registration timelines for students seeking hostel accommodation across its Awka and Agulu campuses for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The new fee structure and registration schedule were contained in a memorandum dated September 21, 2026, signed by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji.
Under the approved fee structure, returning students seeking accommodation in the university’s standard hostels will pay N80,000, while new students will pay N128,000.
However, students seeking accommodation in the newly constructed Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Female Hostel will pay higher fees, with returning students charged N150,000 and new students N200,000.
According to the memorandum, the Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Female Hostel is open to all female students, irrespective of their previous hostel residency status, with allocation to be made strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
The university has also announced specific timelines for room retention, room changes and fresh applications ahead of the new academic session.
Students who lived in the university hostels during the 2025/2026 academic session will be able to retain or change their rooms from 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, to 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Returning students who did not reside in the hostels during the 2025/2026 session will be allowed to apply for accommodation in any of the five older hostels between September 30 and October 3, 2026, subject to the availability of bed spaces.
For newly admitted students, the hostel portal will open on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The university, however, stressed that fresh students must have a valid University Registration Number before applying for hostel accommodation.
The university said accommodation packages would include a designated bed space, bed and mattress, as well as access to water supply and electricity.
It added that electricity supply to the hostels would be supported by solar power systems and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) grid.
The memorandum was copied to the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar and made available through campus notice boards.
