All roads will lead to the famous Egwegwe Square, Nimo as the Nimo Town Development Union, NTDU, Youth Wing, unveils the first edition of its youth empowerment scheme to the tune of N2m.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Nimo Town Development Union, Youth Wing, Comrade G.C. Gold Obiefuna, made available to newsmen.
Obiefuna in the statement said the programme was aimed at giving struggling youths of the town an opportunity to engage in meaningful ventures and equip them for a better future.
Under the programme, eight youths, two each, selected from the four quarters of Nimo, will receive the sum of N250, 000 to support their various business endeavours.
Obiefuna said in the statement that the gesture was to dissuade the youths of the town from wallowing in self-pity due to unexamined life, youthful exuberance and sundry social vices owing to lack of value and meaningful engagement.
He said the programme which will also feature the unveiling of the Nimo Skill Acquisition Centre, as well as empowerment of some youths in Nimo, was for growth, economic and career advancement by some well-known philanthropists in Nimo.
The statement read in part, “This is targeted at strengthening Small Scale Enterprises (SME’S) in Nimo Community. The event has been scheduled to hold on Sunday, 24th September, 2023, at the Skill Acquisition Centre, Egwegwe Square, Nimo.
“It is the first of what is to be continous as it progresses into the ensuing years in our dear town because it is a cornerstone of national development, as it empowers individuals with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities that drive innovation, progress, and societal advancements with its immense power to transform our community.
“It is worthy of note that the beneficiaries of this financial empowerment were carefully and randomly selected from the four quarters of Nimo; two youths from each quarter, making it a total of eight beneficiaries that will be empowered with N250,000 each to support their various business endeavours and meaningful engagement. This will be totalling two million Naira. Many a time, some youths wallow in self pity due to unexamined life, youthful exuberance and other social vices…virtue has been tossed into the wind because of lack of value and meaningful engagement. But with this kind of assistance to our struggling youths, our world of opportunity is simply unlimited because this is a demonstration of unwavering commitment to investing in the youths for a better tomorrow.
“It is a bold stride towards fostering an empowered and enlightened society.”
The event, the statement explained, will also serve as an avenue to express gratitude over the magnanimity and generosity of some philanthropists towards Nimo youths.
“In the Christian spirit of charity and love they have raised so much to support the needy and must be acknowledged for the tremendous significance of this ground breaking initiative for our young and enterprising youths not to be held hostage by financial constraints.
“We implore God who alone knows the true content of our heart and the enormity of our thankfulness, to lead the philanthropists to greater heights.

With This Wonderful Initiative, the best is yet to come for our dear and loving society,” the statement concluded.
