Insecurity in Anambra eroding confidence of investors – LP guber aspirant, Nwosu

News

A governorship aspirant for the Anambra 2025 election on the platform of Labour Party (LP), Mr John Nwosu has decried the level of insecurity in the state.

Nwosu said the level of insecurity in the state is eroding the confidence of investors and deterring them from investing in the state.

He lamented that Anambra has become so very unsafe under the incumbent governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, promising to ensure that when he becomes governor, such tales of insecurity would be a thing of the past.

He decried the recent kidnapping of some staff of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Limited in Nnewi.

He said: “I join other good indigenes and non-indigenes who reside and do business in Anambra State in calling out the Anambra State Government and the allied security agencies to be proactive and more robust in tackling such horrific attacks and kidnappings.

“If left unchecked, the prevailing situation will further erode the confidence of domestic and foreign investors as well as small business owners who now fear endlessly of being kidnapped or even killed.

“I have repeatedly warned that the security architecture now in place in Anambra State has collapsed. The challenge at hand calls for creativity and the deployment of the appropriate technologies to interdict the perpetrators and ameliorate the prevailing concerns.

“I’ve just learnt about the attack and abduction of three persons at the Nnewi showroom of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM). This latest abduction is just one of many such attacks occurring in various parts of Anambra State. I’m aware that several such incident go unreported.

“It is becoming very difficult to fathom what our dear Anambra State is turning into. On the eve of the Christmas and New Year festivities, the expansive level of insecurity is deeply frightening.

“As an IT expert, I wish to assure Ndị Anambra that if I am elected Governor in 2025, I will procure and deploy all the needed technology required to sanitize our environment, and raise the efficacy of our policing modalities in the state. As I have always reiterated, the protection of lives and properties will be our top most priority,” he said.
