Insecurity: ASN Urges Soludo to Repaint Commercial Vehicles in Anambra

The Anambra State Security Network (ASN) has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to order the repainting of commercial buses and tricycles operating in the state with individual security codes.

This call was made after the ASN’s quarterly meeting in Awka, the state capital.

According to the ASN Chairman, Col. Jude Obi (Rtd), the exercise has become necessary to checkmate the activities of “one chance” criminals in the state.

He lamented that Anambra State is one of the few places where commercial vehicles, buses, and tricycles operate without branding, making it easy for criminal elements to use them for their activities.

Col. Obi noted that some of these unbranded buses and tricycles are not even registered, making it difficult for security operatives in Anambra State to recognize and track them.

To address this challenge, the ASN chairman advocated for the repainting of commercial vehicles and tricycles in Anambra State’s official colour.

He identified major hotspots where “one chance” criminals operate, including the Onitsha-Awka Expressway, Nkpor-Oye Agu-Afor Igwe through Old Road, Nkpor-Umuoji Road, and Nkpor-Obosi Road.

Col. Obi revealed that these criminals, often armed, operate mainly during weekends and Mondays, targeting unsuspecting passengers and forcing them to call their families to pay ransom for their release.
