Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma) has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his intention to run for the Anambra State governorship position in 2025.
He made this declaration on Tuesday at his Osumenyi country home in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.
Ukachukwu hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he has the best interests of the country at heart.
“Tinubu means well for Nigeria. He is the only president tackling Nigeria’s problems head-on,” Ukachukwu stated.
He added that Tinubu is running the country like a business, which may involve short-term sacrifices but will ultimately lead to prosperity.
Ukachukwu was officially received by the Osumenyi APC Ward 1 Chairman, Hon. Ikechukwu Onyeka, alongside other ward executive members.
Speaking to journalists, Ukachukwu expressed his joy in joining the APC, citing his desire to link Anambra State to the federal government and bring development to the state.
He also addressed concerns that Tinubu hates the Igbo people, saying, “Tinubu does not hate the Igbo. You see the Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and other tribes all complaining. He is working to refix and rebuild the country, and his policy is not one-sided.”
Ukachukwu’s decision to join the APC and contest for governor was influenced by numerous calls and persuasion from concerned individuals and groups, including the Sustenance of Faith in Governance (SOFIG), Ikemba Frontiers, and Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.
As governor, Ukachukwu promises to sustain the tempo of good governance initiated by President Tinubu.
He vows to tackle insecurity, poverty, hunger, and hardship in Anambra State within three months of assuming office.
Ukachukwu, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives and APGA governorship aspirant, is confident in his ability to govern Anambra State effectively.
