Human Rights Lawyer Urges Soludo to Avoid Using ‘Agunechemba’ for Political Intimidation

News

Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, not to use the “Agunechemba” security outfit for political purposes.

Ejiofor, an indigene of Anambra State, made the call in a statement issued on Monday and made available to our reporter in Awka, the state capital.
He said that the security outfit must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment of opponents.

He further stated that the core objective of ensuring the security and welfare of Ndi Anambra must be preserved above all else.
The human rights lawyer also urged Ndi Anambra to come together and restore the state’s lost glory in terms of security.
The statement reads:
“I have carefully reviewed the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, which establishes the ‘Agunechemba’ security outfit. My reflections align with the wisdom of a popular Igbo adage, ‘Osita di mma odibara gboo,’ loosely translating to ‘it is still early in the day to make things right and achieve better results.’ This underscores the opportunity to lay a strong foundation for the outfit’s success.
As the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election approaches, I urge the Governor and his team to ensure that the Agunechemba security outfit remains free from political interference. It must not fall into the hands of political predators or be misused as a tool for oppression, intimidation, or harassment. Instead, its core objective – ensuring the security and welfare of the people – must be preserved above all else.
Security is a shared responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in restoring Anambra State’s former glory. Together, we can achieve a safer, more prosperous homeland.
I rest my case.”
