The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a commercial tricycle just hours after it was stolen from its operator at Isuaniocha Bridge, Awka North Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 21, at about 2:20 p.m., when armed men reportedly attacked a tricycle rider and dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle, marked NZM 92 YH.

Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad swiftly responded to a distress call, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the hospital, where he is said to be responding to treatment.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects were later tracked to Awarasi Village in Uga, Aguata LGA, through technology-driven intelligence.

“On sighting the operatives, the suspects attempted to escape but were given a hot chase and eventually arrested,” Ikenga said.

The arrested suspects were identified as Kosisochukwu Nweke (26), Emmanuel Eze (24), and Osondu Ifeanyi (20). The stolen tricycle was also recovered during the operation.

Ikenga added that investigations are ongoing to unravel more leads into the gang’s criminal activities, while the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
