The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to motorists and residents across the state to cooperate with its officers in the ongoing enforcement of the tinted glass permit regulation, stressing that the exercise is not intended to punish road users but to enhance public safety.
In a statement issued in Awka on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the enforcement followed credible intelligence indicating that some criminal elements have been using vehicles with unauthorized tinted glasses to evade security checks and commit crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and attacks on innocent citizens.
“The Command wishes to inform Ndi Anambra that the enforcement of the tinted glass permit is not a punitive measure but a necessary step to ensure that the right thing is done for the safety of all,” the statement read in part.
According to the Command, the measure aims to curb criminal activities, improve visibility for security operatives at checkpoints, and strengthen the overall security architecture of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, appealed to motorists to comply with the directive, assuring that the exercise is a proactive security strategy designed to make Anambra safer for residents and visitors alike.
He further advised vehicle owners to obtain the necessary permit through the official Police platform at https://possap.gov.ng, describing the portal as “safe, easy to use, and self-guided.”
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that the rights of citizens are respected during the exercise.
