The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has inaugurated the Media and Publicity Committee for its 60th Anniversary celebration, scheduled to hold from October 29 to 31 in Abuja.
The seven-member Diamond Jubilee media team is chaired by Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of SWAN, while Emmanuel Akpan, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Chapter, will serve as Vice Chairman.
Other members of the committee include Hembadoon Rosario, Chairman of the Benue Chapter, who will serve as Secretary; Ahmed Amshi, Vice President (North-East); Jacob Onjewu, Secretary of the Kaduna State Chapter; and two graphics/infographic experts.
According to the appointment letter signed by Isaiah Benjamin and Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President and Secretary-General respectively, the committee took effect from October 6 and will continue to function after the anniversary as a standing committee.
“We write to formally convey your appointment as Chairman and members of the Media/Publicity Committee, SWAN Diamond Jubilee/60th Anniversary and Beyond.
“Your appointment is in recognition of your track record of dedication and your drive for positive results and achievements,” the letter stated.
The National Secretariat noted that the committee is expected to engage with relevant media platforms—print, online, and electronic—through the creation and dissemination of various contents related to the SWAN@60 anniversary.
The committee’s terms of reference include evolving creative and practical strategies to ensure consistent and effective content generation and dissemination ahead of the celebration.
“The Committee will also, from time to time, contribute to making the SWAN official website more robust with relevant information.
“Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions,” the statement added.
