The Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Hon Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, has expressed happiness with the zeal with which the people of the state have been responding to the Continued Voter Registration exercise but has urged those still sitting on the fence to go and register before the July 26 extended deadline.

Statistics from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, show that Anambra currently leads in registration, having 8,624 voters registering out of the 120,600 nationwide.

This came after 4,423 new voters had registered between January 5 and April 2026 in the early phase before INEC extended it.

Before the last guber election in the state, Anambra had 2,656,437 total registered voters but currently has 2,802,790 total registered voters, with 5,983 coming as transfers; a commendable increase, no doubt.

But Nwankwo, while commending the people of the state for their enthusiasm, called for more positive action to further beef up their numbers.

He reminded those still hedging to know that in a democracy their votes were their power

“There’s no sitting on the fence in this business of registering. If you don’t come out to vote you may inadvertently be paving way for the election of those who won’t deliver

“Your vote is your power. Exercise that right and ensure that you elect good leaders who will serve you well,” Nwankwo pointed out.

He hailed what he described as a commendable turn out of the people so far and noted that it underscored the high awareness of the people of the state.

The Founder of the Dozie Nwankwo Foundation, reiterated his resolve to deliver on his mandate once he got to Abuja

“Our people deserve the best and only the best representatives can make that happen,” Nwankwo submitted.
