BREAKING: Obi Weeps, Says: ‘I’m Not Sure I’ll Be Alive to Contest 2027 Election’: Attack Is Too Much

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over his safety ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying he is not sure he will be alive to contest the election.

Obi made the statement in an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, where he spoke about what he described as the numerous petitions and investigations he had faced.

The former Anambra State governor said the pressure had become overwhelming, leaving him uncertain about what could happen to him before the 2027 polls.

“As I speak to you, I have also been petitioned, I’ve been investigated everywhere. Like I said before, I’m not even sure whether I’ll still be alive at the end of this,” Obi said.

He said he was relying on God for protection, adding that he was concerned about the prevailing political atmosphere.

“I’m praying to God for His protection because at this stage, I’m not sure what is happening,” he added.

Obi also appealed to political leaders, particularly state governors, to allow presidential candidates and other political aspirants to campaign freely in their respective states.

He said governors had the right to support candidates of their choice but should not prevent candidates of other parties from campaigning.

“Some of them will be campaigning for presidency tomorrow. They will be campaigning for other offices tomorrow. Let’s have peace,” he said.

Recalling his tenure as Anambra State governor, Obi said his administration allowed politicians from other parties to campaign in the state, including those backing his political opponents.

He urged political leaders to ensure a peaceful environment and allow all candidates to participate freely in the political process ahead of the 2027 elections.
