One of Nigeria’s most powerful female bankers, Dame Adaora Umeoji has been appointed Group Managing Director of Nigeria’s most capitalized and most profitable bank.

The appointment takes effect from June 2024, making her the first female to lead the bank, where she currently serves as the deputy GMD.

Her appointment is, however, subject to the approval of the Central Bank.

It was gathered that Zenith is also implementing its holdco structure with the current Group Managing Director, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu expected to be named as Chief Executive Officer after his 2-year cooling period as required by guidelines.

Dr Onyeagwu has however been appointed Chairman of the board of Zenith Bank United Kingdom.
