Anambra deserves positive media projection – Says Housing Commissioner, Onyeka

Anambra State Housing Commissioner, Hon. Pauly Onyeka, has emphasized the importance of using the media to project the achievements of the present administration to the people.

The commissioner made the call while receiving the team from CHOFFAN Communication Limited, owners of Blaze and Ijele FM Radio Stations on a courtesy visit at the State Secretariat Complex, Awka.

Hon. Onyeka noted that the communication gaint,covering about eight states has unique and wonderful contents and style of communication emanating from five different stations across the country, two of which are located in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, his constituency .

“You are not the first to come on this type of visit but yours has a unique benefit because of your wider reach.

“Equally, I have a personal connection to your station because where your two stations, Ijele and Blaze FM are located is the constituency I represented 2011 – 2015 as a member of Anambra State House of Assembly.

While assuring them of the ministry and state government’s collaboration, the commissioner outlined Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s multi sectoral achievements in the employment of 5000 teachers with additional 3000 in progress, the One Youth, Two Skills Program of the state government which has disbursed over N2billon in the pilot stage and the Solution Football Club which records success in their engagements.

Others are the new Onitsha 2 Mega City that will cover Okpoko, lyiowa to the bank of River Niger, while Awka 2 Mega City covers Agu Awka, Isiagu, Amasea and Ntokor.

According to him, the state government would soon start the Anambra State 10 storey international Hotel near ICC Awka, while PPP arrangement with private developers to construct five different estates to reduce housing deficit and high housing rents has been concluded.

“Also,the new Government House and Lodge and reconstruction of Commissioners’ Quarters will be completed this year. Over 450km of roads are under construction while Awka fun city is expected to be ready soon.

Earlier, the Head of Station, Ijele FM, Mr Chu Nwankwo, said the visit was to establish friendship ties with the ministry and see possible ways to project the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the grassroots.

He explained that the station has a powerful outreach covering eight states and communicates in three different languages with rich contents that will showcase the state in good light.

Other staff of the communication station present were the Head of Programs, Ijele FM, Mr Leonard Ona, General Manager, Ijele FM, Mr Ifediora Tagbo, with Ministry of Housing staff among whom are Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner, Eugene Onyewe, Director, Quantity Surveyor, QS Edison Nnamdi, a senior officer in the ministry, Bldr.Ikenna Okpalla and the Media Officer, Ekweaga Uzoma.
