Anambra Lawmaker Flags Off Constituency Office, Holds Meeting With Constituents

The honorable member representing Idemili North and South federal constituency under the Labour Party Platform, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, officially flagged off the Idemili South constituency Secretariat at Oye market square, Ojoto. The event was followed immediately with a Town Hall meeting with Idemili South constituents at Ndiabor hall, Ojoto, on the 2nd of April.

The event with the Theme, ‘Inclusive and Open-door Representation, a Path to Greater and Prosperous Idemili’ brought together the presidents-General (PGs), the Women Leaders, Youths Leaders, other stakeholders student leaders, trade union leaders, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and good people of Idemili South constituency which comprise of seven communities, was aimed to be a round table discussion between the elected and the electorates, to discuss the past, the present and the future of their constituency.

Speaking during the event, Hon Okonkwo noted that his representation is people-oriented, he used the opportunity to present his eight months’ scorecard, which is anchored on youth empowerment, renovation of schools, facilitating federal government employment, attracting street lights installed in Idemili markets, etc. Highlighting the house committees in which is a member and substantive bills he sponsored, that have passed the first reading.

Moreover, the royal father of the occasion, HRM Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu Eze Oranyelu I, Eze Ojoto III, in his address commended the lawmaker on his developmental initiatives and he thanked Umu-idemil for their support to the worthy son of Ojoto, whose act is worthy of emulation and needs to be encouraged.

In reaction, Hon. Mrs. Azuka Enemuo, former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, ably represented by Hon. Nnaemeka Orji, commended Hon. Okonkwo for creating a platform for Umu-idemil to air their views and bring suggestions for the development of the constituency.

Speaking further, Bar. Dominic Okpala, President General (PG) of Akwu-Ukwu noted the challenges facing the constituency and commended the lawmaker for his legislative interventions, especially in education, erosion menace, youth empowerment, and the light-up Idemili project.

The President General (PG) of Nnokwa community, Commander Joe Anyika, Ochiagha Nnokwa, describe the event as a gigantic step taken by Hon. Okonkwo whom he described as an accountable officer and urge him to continue in the path of uprightness.

The highlight of the occasion was an award of excellence from the Association of Music and Film Producers and Marketers of Nigeria, AMUFPMAN to Hon. Uchenna Okonkwo. Responding, Hon. Okonkwo expressed his gratitude for the show of love from the Association and promise to render assistance as at when needed.
