The Anambra State Police Command has intervened in a case of attempted extortion by a police officer in the command, reported by a businessman.
According the businessman, Nwaneli Joshua, who posted on Twitter, using the name, @JBStar_, he recently reported a case of theft in his shop in Awka, where he lost millions, but a police IPO (Investigating Police Officer) was demanding to be paid N500,000 before he could commence investigation.
Nwaneli concluded the post by saying that the IPO was demanding his source of livelihood before he could do his job, and that the suspect in the matter had been released because he was unable to pay.
Though the name of the IPO was not mentioned, Nwaneli lamented that Nigeria has failed him.
But in a swift response, the Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Police command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga has waded into the matter, promising to give Nwaneli justice.
While the matter trended on Twitter, Ikenga quickly reached out to Nwaneli, asking him to come to his office to get assistance in ensuring he gets justice over the matter.
Ikenga also published his phone number, asking for more facts, to help him take appropriate steps.
In a text he sent to THE RAZOR NEWS, He said “Following the directive of the Force PRO, I wish to use this opportunity to avail my number to the victim to please contact me on 08039334002 and provide me with more information. I assure you that the command shall follow it to a logical conclusion.”
