The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has warned drivers to strictly adhere to designated routes and avoid driving against traffic, otherwise known as one-way driving.
In a statement obtained by our correspondent, ARTMA expressed concern over the increasing number of drivers, including heavy-duty truck drivers, who flout traffic rules, particularly in Onitsha, after 6 pm.
The agency noted that this reckless behaviour had resulted in numerous accidents and fatalities.
As a consequence, ARTMA has deployed a special team to curb the trend and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Drivers are advised to adhere strictly to designated routes at all times to avoid endangering lives.
The agency’s warning came as a measure to eliminate the risks involved in one-way driving and ensure the safety of all road users in Anambra State.
