ASUU-NAU elects new Chairperson in Anambra

There was jubilation yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, following the election of a new chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, ASUU-NAU

The new chairperson is Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji
who defeated the preferred candidate of the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Charles Esimone, Comrade Okenwa Ogbodo and two others.

The new ASUU-NAU Chairperson, would replace Prof Steve Ufoaroh

Before the election, which took place at the ASUU-NAU Secretariat Wednesday,14 persons had been cleared by the Electoral Screening Committee, headed by Comrade Tochukwu Orji-Okafor, Convener, ASUU-NAU Electoral Committee and the Zonal Coordinator, ASUU Owerri Zone, Comrade Uzor Onyebimama.

Majority of the ASUU-NAU members supported Prof Kingsley Ubaoji, which did not go down well with the Management

During the election Prof. Ubaoji polled a total of 616 votes to defeat Comrade Okenwa Ogbodo who came a distant second with a total of 227 votes.

While Comrade Uju Ezenekwe scored 141 votes to place third and Comrade Peter Okoye had only 84 votes to come fourth.
