Politics

Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu, member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo federal constituency moved the motion on the floor of the house of representatives on Wednesday.

He wrote: “Yesterday, I moved a motion on the floor of the House, calling for a special security effort on issue of my Constituent, Mr OBIORA Agbasimalo who was kidnapped since September 18th and general insecurity in the south east.
Below is my motion:

URGENT NEED TO LOOK INTO CASES OF UNRESOLVED KIDNAP/INSECURITY IN THE SOUTH EAST/ANAMBRA

The House:

NOTES that there have been a lot of cases of missing persons in the South East and in Anambra State in particular.

FURTHER NOTES that among other crimes recorded during the said period was the kidnap of one Mr Obiora Agbasimalo – MBA the candidate of Labour Party for the Anambra governorship election. He was kidnapped on the 18th of September, 2022 in Anambra State.

OBSERVES also that about 5 Enginers working with Malen Consultants in Effium Ebonyi State was also kidnapped since 3rd November, 2021 and nothing has also been heard till date. These with numerous other unresolved cases creates a high level of sense of insecurity in the South East.

CONCERNED that till today, many weeks after and still counting nothing has been heard about most of these cases.

COGNIZANT that these persons has families and loved ones who are already broken and left in perpetual agony.

WORRIED that if nothing tangible is done to at least provide hope for these families, we might end us loosing them too.

PRAYERS:

1. The House resolves to Urge Security Agencies: DSS, Police, Civil Defence and other security Agencies to quickly get to the root of these unresolved cases.

2. Mandate the relevant Committees of the House to work with the Security Agencies and report back to the House in 6 weeks.
