Benue gov recognizes Paul Chukwuma’s expertise, appoints him governing council chair

In a move aimed at strengthening the educational sector in Benue State, the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has appointed Sir Paul Chukwuma, a renowned educationist from Anambra State, as Chairman of the Governing Council and

Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University.

The appointment, announced on Monday, is expected to leverage Chukwuma’s extensive experience in the education sector to elevate the university’s standards.

In addition to Chukwuma’s appointment, Governor Alia also named chairpersons for the governing councils of other higher institutions in the state.

These include Dr. Damian Anyam for Benue State Polytechnic, Prof. George-Genyi for College of Education, Oju, Prof. Uketor Gabrial Moti for College of Education, Katsina-ala, Prof. Okpe O. Okpe for Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Dr. Bern Vangerwua for College of Health Technology, Agasha, and Dr. Victoria Pila for Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev.

The governor expressed confidence in the appointees’ ability to enhance the institutions, citing their wealth of experience.

The appointments take effect immediately, with Governor Alia urging the appointees to excel in their new roles.

This development is seen as a strategic move to bolster the state’s educational landscape, and Sir Paul Chukwuma’s appointment is widely viewed as a testament to his expertise and reputation in the education sector.

Paul Chukwuma is the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Bujumbura, the Burundian capital.
