Police authorities in Anambra State have revealed that six journalists who were travelling to Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, who were kidnapped in Anambra on Wednesday have been rescued.
Police public relations officer of Anambra State Police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the operatives of the command were still working to rescue the seventh victim.
He said: “Joint security forces have successfully rescued six members of the media crew who were abducted while travelling from Lagos to Uyo along Isseke-Orlu Road in Ihiala.
“Meanwhile, operations are still ongoing for the possible rescue of the seventh crew member.”
It is however not clear if the journalists were only seven in numbers as a source had earlier hinted FIDES that seven were rescued, while four the whereabout of four of them was yet to be ascertained.
