The Head Pastor of Rhema Deliverance Mission in Awka, Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu has warned his colleagues in the ministry not to allow miracle seekers pressure them into staging fake miracles.
Dr Nwachukwu was preaching to his congregation on Sunday about the recent trend where only pastors who perform miracles are seen as the real Men of God, making worshippers to flood their churches.
He said it is actually these miracle-seeking worshipers that pressure many clergy men into staging miracles, just to please them and gain authenticity.
He said: “Many fake Men of God we know today did not set out to be fake. They were actually upright people who were genuinely working for God, but in the process they allow the pressure of people who keep following them to lead them into dping what they are not.
“For me, if you complain that I don’t prophesy, or that I don’t perform miracles, that is your problem. No one should allow pressure to turn them into what they are not.
“Most of the men of God that reigned yesterday because they were performing miracles are no longer the ones reigning today.
“Such men don’t serve God, they serve themselves and they mind earthly things, that is why the pressure gets to them. The Bible says – seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things shall be added unto you. It didn’t say perform miracles and popularity shall be added unto you. Your major call as a Man of God is to lead people to Christ and not to perform miracles for them.”
He however also warned the congregation to stop the habit of jumping from one church to the other because they heard that a new miracle worker has opened a new church.
“If you continue to do that, there will never be an end to the churches you attend. You hear that Mr A performs miracles and you rush to their church and suck their oil dry and when he stops, you hear of a new one and you rush there. That is not how to be a Christian.
“Because they want to please you, they start arranging miracles, doing all manner of things to sustain the tempo. Some even go to native doctors to keep performing miracles.”
Recall that recently, the Anglican Church in Anambra State suspended one of its priests, Reverend Ifunaya Maduka, from office as Vicar of St Paul’s Parish, Nteje, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, for staging miracles.
Rev Maduka who many believed was a genuine priest was well known for miracles, including clearing fetish materials dumped by the roadside as sacrifices. He was suspended for six months by the Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Diocese on the Niger, Bishop Owen Nwokolo.
