The Dunukofia National Congress has called on stakeholders in Anaocha and Njikoka Local Government Areas to support the zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives seat for the Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) federal constituency to Dunukofia LGA.
In an open appeal addressed to traditional rulers, town union leaders and political stakeholders across the three council areas, the group hinged its request on what it described as “equity, brotherhood, unity and fairness” among the communities that make up the constituency.
The DNA federal constituency—comprising Dunukofia Local Government Area, Njikoka Local Government Area and Anaocha Local Government Area—has historically operated as a single political bloc since its creation, with stakeholders noting that the area was once part of a unified administrative and cultural entity before successive boundary adjustments.
According to the appeal, the constituency has maintained a long-standing pattern of rotational representation at the National Assembly, with previous terms alternating between Anaocha and Njikoka.
The Dunukofia National Congress, however, argued that despite the rotation, Dunukofia has yet to produce a representative in the Green Chamber since the constituency structure was established.
Describing the arrangement as a “shared political microphone,” the group stressed that the seat represents not only political power but also the collective voice of the DNA people at the national level.
It maintained that fairness requires a conscious effort to allow all three local government areas to participate meaningfully in the representation cycle.
While acknowledging the contributions and representation previously enjoyed by Anaocha and Njikoka, the group said its appeal was not driven by rivalry but by a desire to strengthen unity and address what it called a lingering sense of exclusion.
“We come before you not with entitlement but with a humble plea for justice and equity,” the statement read in part, urging stakeholders to “allow Dunukofia to produce the next representative through a zoning arrangement that guarantees internal contest among its aspirants.”
The group further argued that zoning the seat to Dunukofia in 2027 would deepen trust among the constituent communities and reinforce the spirit of brotherhood that has historically defined relations within the area.
It called on traditional rulers, town union presidents-general and political leaders across the three LGAs to consider the request as a moral obligation aimed at sustaining unity and fairness within the constituency.
The appeal was copied to key stakeholders across Anaocha and Njikoka communities, as well as leadership structures within the wider DNA political bloc.
