A former deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke, has felicitated Muslim faithful across the country on the celebration of the 2022 Eid-ul-Mawlid.
Our correspondent reports that Okeke urged the Muslims to unite in ideas that would make Nigerian indivisible and promote developments that would build a stronger nation.
He made the call in an interview with THE RAZOR in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Saturday.
Restating that Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration is a commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Okeke said the moment should enthrone principles that would encourage peaceful coexistence and progress of the nation.
Describing the celebration as very apt at a time like this, he expressed hope that the moment would instill in the minds of the people to seek for love and unity of the nation especially as the country plans for 2023 general elections.
He said security of life and property should be the ultimate goal at the hearts of every Nigerians irrespective of their religious belief .
Okeke commended the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration on his efforts to sustain the peaceful
coexistence of the nation.
He hailed Muslims both at home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion, while admonishing Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which he described as the deep spiritual virtues that Holy Prophet Muhammad exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security and harmony in the country.
