Dr (Mrs) Uche Ekwunife, erstwhile Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dumped the party to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State.
Dr Abdullahi Ganduje named her among the 138-member gubernatorial campaign council for Imo State for the reelection of the Imo State Governor.
The council is chaired by the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Bassey Otu.
Recall that Ekwunife lost her third-time bid to return to the Senate in the 2023 general elections on the platform of the PDP.
She came third in the poll which was won overwhelmingly by the Labour Party( LP) candidate, Chief Victor Umeh. Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came distant second in the poll declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).
Ekwunife also campaigned vigorously for the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 general elections
Ekwunife was recently appointed the Director-General of South East Governor’s Forum.
The Ekwunife council team for the reelection of Uzodimma is co-chaired by Francis Nwifuru, the Ebonyi State governor.
Surprisingly, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, a PDP presidential aspirant in 2023 general elections, is also in the Uzodimma reelection council team.
The council members released last night by APC NWC were tasked to lead the “Gubernatorial Campaign in Imo State and ensure the triumph of our great Party( APC ) at the November 11, 2023 Governorship election”.
The council is also co-chaired by Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of Federal House Representatives, Co-Chair Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, Minister of State for Labour.
Other members are Uche Nnaji, Abiodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, Hyacinth Alia, Benue State governor Chris Akomas former deputy governor of Abia State, Nkem Okeke, Prince Eze Madumere, former deputy governor of Imo State, Dori Aniche Uzoka, Barr Kennedy Uju, Prof Onyebuchi, Emma Enukwu, Sulaiman Mohammad Argungu, Chidi Duru, Henry Ikoh.
