Group warns about politicizing death of lady clubber, commends govt action

News

A political pressure group, made up of supporters of Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo; Solution Team has condemned attempt to politicize the death of a lady clubber, Miss Chinyere Awuda at Cosmila Hotel, last weekend.

Miss Awuda was alleged to have picked money sprayed on a birthday celebrant in the hotel’s club, leading to her being beaten by other clubbers. This has led to the sealing off of the hotel by Anambra State government, pending investigation.

In a press release signed by Comrade Samuel Egwuatu, the General Secretary of Solution Team, the group called for speedy investigation by the police, to unearthed the real cause of death of the lady.

The release read: “It has come to the attention of the Solution Team, that the death of Miss Chinyere Awuda, on the 16th of July, 2023, at the Cosmilla Hotels, Awka, has been turned into a media circus, which invariably has brought about an unwarranted media trial, on the good governance strides made so far by the Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo.

“While we deeply regret the death of this young and promising Anambrarian, and equally await the final results from investigations by the Anambra State Police, the Solution Team wish to condemn the social media trial by faceless and seemingly unpatriotic persons, thereby shedding a bad light on the solid security architecture passionately established by the working government of Prof CC Soludo.

“This is in high distaste, given that the Nigerian Police Force and other sister Agencies, are yet to make the results of their investigations public.

“We thank the State Government for their proactive efforts and quick response to the matter. We sincerely urge the Anambra State Police and sister agencies to continue their investigations in a robust manner, so as to ensure that the incident is resolved as quickly as possible.

“It is absolutely regrettable that the life of a vibrant and promising young Anambrarian has been cut short in her prime. We deeply commiserate with her family in particular, for their loss and Anambrarians in general. May God give her loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

The group said the death of Miss Awuda could have been averted by the security of Cosmilla Hotels if they had done quite a number of the needful things, but added that it would be most unwise and unpatriotic to pin the unfortunate incident on on the hotel, describing them as a reputable facility that has helped grow tourism in Anambra State.
