A letter written by Peter Obi when he was governor of Anambra State in 2007 has resurfaced online.

In the letter, Peter Obi rejected a land offered to him by the Managing Director of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, Mike Nwafor.

Obi in the letter told Mr. Mike Nwafor that he wish to serve his people without having any undue privilege as a result of the office he occupy.

“As I have made abundantly clear, my being Governor is by the Grace of God and I believe firmly that it is wrong to benefit from that. I became the Governor because I wish to serve my people, and to do that devotedly, I believe I have to distance myself from undue privileges of the office.

“Consequently, as I thank you for your thoughtfulness, I wish to decline the allocation based on the reasons already adduced,” the letter reads in part.
