Killing: Tension, as residents flee Community in Anambra

There is tension in Abatete Community, Idemili North local government area of Anambra State, following the killing of a suspected cult member by security operatives.

The killing led to massive protest by some youths, where property worth millions of naira were destroyed by the protesters, including the Palace of the traditional ruler of the community.

The wanton destruction of property by the youths led to the arrest of many people in the community by security operatives.

As at the time of filing this report, the arrested persons had not been released by the security operatives.

THE RAZOR NEWS gathered that the suspects were taken to the zone 13 at Ukpo, Dunukofia local government area of the State.

As a result, many residents of the area were said to be on the run for fear of being arrested by the security operatives, who it was gathered, continued to roam the area.

The incident, THE RAZOR NEWS gathered, happened about a week ago in the sleepy community.

A source who spoke with THE RAZOR NEWS, said, ” the painful aspect of it is that our traditional ruler who they destroyed his Palace stays abroad

“The protesters did not only destroy his place, they equally, destroyed the homes of members of the Palace Council.

“As we speak, those people arrested have not been released, only two old persons among them were released. The situation has caused tension in Abatete ” the source said.

When contacted, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode’s line was saying switched off.

But one of the Senior Police Officers in the State, told The Razor News that investigations were still on concerning the case.
