“Manipulating the media is akin to poisoning a nation’s water supply – it affects all of our lives in unimaginable ways” – New Zealand author – Lance Morcan.
So, it took a book by a former SSS operative, Dennis Amachree for us to know the true story of how the late Gen. Sani Abacha died?
All along, we believed that he died after eating an apple fed him by some Indian ladies he had invited to pleasure him in Aso Rock. In fact, one thing we were told and came to be sure of was that Abacha liked beautiful women, especially fair complexion ladies.
The story was even that he liked them so much that he imported three from India, and that the night he died, it was right in their laps, after they fed him a poisoned apple. Naturally, we just believed that Abacha may have imported the ladies, but someone outsmarted him by gaining the confidence of the ladies and giving them an apple to feed the C-in-C.
Abacha’s CSO, a man that should be envied for his loyalty even in death, Major Hamza Mustapha told a different story. His story was that Abacha died after receiving some foreign dignitaries. He shook hands with them and developed illness and later died around 5am.
As much as Mustapha wanted us to believe that version, we all knew it was a spin. The foreign guests were the Indian ladies. The handshake was the bedroom affair. So, to save our late C-in-C some indignity even at death, we just agreed that our former head of state died after receiving some foreign dignitaries.
But from nowhere, a new account has surfaced, and that seems like the most credible account of them all.
Gen. Abacha had an Igbo girlfriend. He bought her an SUV. Girlfriend came to Aso Rock to thank C-in-C for the gift, but she came with her little sister, a fresh pharmacy graduate. Oga probably saw her and took a liking, and the girlfriend being either smart or knowing that the general must have whatever he desires quietly decided to bequeath her sister to Oga and returned to her hotel – Nicon Hotel.
At around 4:05am while Oga was still on top of the young pharmacist performing state function, the she noticed he was now still. She checked her pulse and found Oga had gone. She pushed him down, dressed up and met soldiers standing guard and probably told them she was done with Oga, and that he had ordered that she be chauffeur-driven back to Hilton to join her sister. The culture of respect in the military didn’t let the soldiers verify from Oga, they didn’t even dispute the girl’s instructions, maybe because it’s a regular practice for Oga to bring women to the Villa and later dismiss them to have a good after-coitus experience.
They were only able to discover Oga dead much later, whereas, the girl on seeing her sister at the hotel and sharing the experience, quickly packed her bag and joined a 7am flight back home in Lagos, while the country grappled with a beautifully made story about beautiful Indian maidens and a poisoned apple.
Lance Morcan, a New Zealand author believes that manipulating the media is akin to poisoning a nation’s water supply – it affects all of our lives in unimaginable ways. True to fact, history books today are teaching us a wrong account of how our president died because real and more believable account is here.
The things that happen in government are deep. This is a sign that everything is believable and that true accounts can remain hidden for ages, but eventually, truth surfaces.
