N41bn UBEC grants : Accord party blasts Anambra government

The deputy governorship candidate of the Accord Party, Ifeatu Obi, has carpeted Anambra State government for not accessing 41 billion naira Universal Basic education Commission UBEC grant since 2017

Accord Party says such action is not healthy for the growth of education in the State

The revelation was made few days ago by the Executive Secretary of the Commission Hamid Boboyi, that over 41.06 billion naira grants belonging to Anambra was unaccessed since 2017 till date

Addressing Party faithful in Awka Saturday, Obi, blamed the government of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA for what he described as a big mistake

Obi, is the deputy to Dr Godwin Maduka, in Accord Party, who dumped the People’s Democratic Party PDP recently because of the unresolved Court cases in the Party

He said the implication of such huge mistake was that the students would continue to suffer, adding that the poor state of many primary schools across the State would not improve

UBEC made the revelation while presenting the 2020 Capital Budget Performance to the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education

The commission Stated that Anambra State failed to access the fund in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Obi, A Director in Oasis Medical UK and a Director in Athantic Oil Services Uk before he came home to join politics, told the people that such anomalies were what Accord Party had come to correct

“The blueprint of Accord Party for the Educational sector will pitch Anambra children to compete favourably with their counter parts across the globe”

“At a time when artificial intelligence and robotic technology had swept across the Western World, Anambra children cannot be left behind with such UBEC Fund sad news” Obi said

He said commitment of Dr Maduka to elavete the Educational sector by increasing the Educational budget to the UNESCO benchmark, would take Anambra above other States

He urged Ndi Anambra to vote in the Accord Party in the Forthcoming November 6th election as the Party was poised to replicate the Umuchukwu magic wand across Anambra State.
