The flagbearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Awka South I State Constituency, Oguguo Obinna Henry (Ọkpataozuora), has expressed gratitude to party members and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him following his emergence as the party’s candidate in the recently concluded primary election.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mr. Oguguo thanked party leaders, youths, women, ward executives, supporters and members of the NDC for what he described as a collective achievement rather than a personal victory.
He commended the conduct of the primary election, noting that the process reflected the democratic ideals of the party and provided members with the opportunity to participate in shaping its leadership direction.
According to him, the unity, maturity and democratic spirit displayed throughout the exercise demonstrated that the NDC remained committed to its core democratic principles.
The NDC flagbearer called on party members to put the contest behind them and rally together ahead of the general election, stressing that political competition should not breed division among party faithful.
He extended an olive branch to his co-aspirants and their supporters, urging them to embrace reconciliation and work collectively towards the party’s success in the constituency.
“The primaries are over and now is the time to come together as one family,” he said, adding that victory would be more meaningful if built on unity and collective effort.
Mr. Oguguo also expressed appreciation to youths, women, elders and party leaders for their support, encouragement and confidence in his ability to represent the constituency.
He pledged to provide accessible, accountable and proactive leadership, promising regular engagement with grassroots stakeholders if elected.
The NDC candidate said his aspiration was driven by a desire to provide effective representation and “a new voice” for the people of Awka South I Constituency.
He further urged party members and supporters to continue fostering peace, unity and cooperation as preparations for the general election gather momentum.
Mr. Oguguo concluded the statement by praying for the continued progress of Awka South I Constituency, the NDC and its members.
