As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence anniversary, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to review some of his policies .

Speaking at a special interdenominational church service held at the Cathedral Church of St Faith, Awka, Dr. Mefor noted that while the current government has made efforts to reset the country economically, many of its policies are not well-received by Nigerians.

Dr. Mefor urged the Federal Government to reassess these policies or implement interventions to make them more tolerable.

He emphasized the need for Nigerians to remain committed to salvaging the country, stressing that despite challenges, Nigeria’s unity and democracy are still worth celebrating.

“There is still something to celebrate. If not anything, Nigeria is still one country, and the nation’s democracy is still kicking,” Dr. Mefor said.

The Commissioner acknowledged the country’s economic and security challenges but expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future.

“Despite all these challenges, I remain an incurable optimist – the situation is not unsalvageable if we remain steadfast in resolving all the challenges of nationhood.”

Mefor further emphasized the importance of protecting lives and property and prioritizing the welfare and happiness of Nigerians to build a better country.

This call for policy review comes as President Tinubu’s administration continues to implement various initiatives, including updates to the education curriculum and partnerships with China .

However, opposition parties, such as the PDP, have also urged the President to reverse unpopular policies
